Vineyards Country Club today announced the selection of Billy Huskins, CGCS, to the position of Director of Agronomy. Huskins will be responsible for all day-to-day agronomic maintenance, plans, programs and budgets for the community’s two 18-hole golf courses, practice areas, and clubhouse grounds.
“As Director of Agronomy, Billy will be an integral member of the Executive Team,” said Vineyards Country Club Chief Operating Officer Paul Malonson. “He is already working closely with our Director of Golf and the golf staff providing exceptional golf experiences for all Vineyards members and guests. Billy will also play an essential role as our golf courses undergo transformational renovations over the next 24 months.”
Certified by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Huskins is an accomplished turf professional. He previously served as Director of Agronomy and Grounds at Highland Woods Golf and Country Club in Bonita Springs for 16 years. Prior experience includes positions as national Vice President of Agronomy for Escalante Golf, and positions as director of golf and grounds, director of golf operations, and golf course superintendent for country clubs in the Ft. Myers and Greater Atlanta areas. Huskins earned an associate degree in turfgrass management with a concentration in business management from North Carolina State University. He has served as head superintendent for the Chick fil-A Charity Championship, apprentice at Augusta National Golf Club and volunteer at Merion Golf Club for the U.S. Open.
Huskins joined Vineyards Country Club in November 2022 as Project Manager, responsible for overseeing the first redesign and renovation of the country club’s golf courses since their initial construction more than 30 years ago.
