Promotion reflects leadership, experience and commitment to member excellence
Vineyards Country Club has announced the promotion of J.P. Leland, PGA, to Director of Golf, in recognition of his leadership, commitment to excellence and distinguished background in the game, illustrating a career spanning experience at some of the industry’s most respected clubs.
In his new role, Leland will oversee all aspects of the club’s golf operations, with a continued focus on innovation, service and creating an exceptional experience for members at every level of play. Since joining Vineyards Country Club as Head Golf Professional in September 2024, he has enhanced the member experience and strengthened a culture of excellence within the club’s golf program.
A PGA of America Class-A Member since 2009, Leland brings experience from private clubs across the country. Most recently, he served as Head Golf Professional at Royal Poinciana Golf Club in Naples. His career also includes leadership roles at Beaver Creek Golf Club in Colorado, The Country Club of Loch Lloyd in Kansas City, St. Ives Golf Club in Michigan, Wyndemere Country Club, Naples Grande Golf Club and premier destinations in Lake of the Ozarks and Vail.
A graduate of Ferris State University’s Professional Golf Management program, Leland’s connection to the game began early. Raised in a golf family, with his father serving as a Director of Golf, he was immersed in the sport from a young age, starting with informal roles at the course as a child and progressing into his first official position in the industry at age 14.
“J.P. has made an immediate, meaningful impact on our golf operations and overall member experience,” said Paul Malonson, chief operating officer of Vineyards Country Club. “His leadership, professionalism and forward-thinking approach have already benefited our program, and we are confident he will continue to build on that success in this new role.”
Leland steps into the Director of Golf position following the remarkable 30-year tenure of Tom Metzger, who now serves as Director of Golf Emeritus. Working alongside Metzger during his transition, Leland will build upon the club’s legacy while evolving its golf programming to meet the expectations of today’s members.
